Tadashi! I'm so glad to hear from you, yes, I made it out alright. The Kraken was a bit more than I cared for, but back safe and mostly sound.

What about you? Are you alright? [In truth, Rei told her that Tadashi had died in a fire, but she didn't want to force him in any way.]

I'm fine, thanks for asking. There wasn't a lot of danger where we were brought. It was an abandoned village, though, kind of like an extension of the one in the jungle.

[ the one that got caught in a fire... but tadashi won't bring that up. ]

Busy, no not at all. I just finished my last chess lesson. I would love to meet up!

[This has been a long. Long. Long. Week. It's been one thing after another, after another, and while none of these have involved impacted Rei, the psychic wear and tear of people 's emotions going awry is enough to keep her awake late into the evening. Sleep is not likely, and there's one person Rei knows is generally awake long after Minako's gone to bed.

Quietly, so as not to disturb Dipper, Rei taps gently on Ami's door.]

Ami-chan. I know you're awake working. Can we talk?

[Whenever Ami was upset, she tended to dive into work. Hell, whenever she was happy she dove into work and sometimes forgot to come out, but today was the former problem. She needed to distract herself. She needed to keep her mind busy lest she think about all the danger Tadashi and Hiro were walking right into right now. How Dipper had gone and gotten impaled in the jungle, how she was a senshi and she never felt so helpless!

Stupid genius Hamadas and their stupid noble running into danger and likely getting their stupid genius butts in all sorts of trouble and-

Knock knock

Ami hadn't realized she snapped her pencil in half... She took a deep breath.]

C-Come on in, Rei. [She gazed at her notes and frowned. She'd have to rewrite them... again. These were not only incomprehensible to anyone other than herself, but she had gone on a tangent on various formulas and quantum physics. She rubbed her eyes as she took off her glasses.]

What's up?

[The sudden snap of anger wasn't lost on Rei, and it gave even her pause. Did she really want to investigate if something's made Ami snap her pencil? That was a sign to the other girls to run for the hills. Was it worth it, just to find out what's bothering her friend and ease her own troubles?

The answer was quick enough, with only a moments hesitation. The door slides open and Rei steps inside, a worried frown on her face.]

I wanted to talk about some things. I've had a lot of my mind lately. But clearly you have a more immediate need. [Folding her arms, she added in a voice that was as much a command as anything. Ami was distressed, and that was a stress point for her too. This had to stop, and get out in the open, and they had to do it without waking Dipper and Minako.] Get your coat, we're going out.

4/18, Night

[It's a late night, and Rei again was a knocking on Ami's door. There's less urgency in it, but this needs to be addressed and soon. She'd made a choice, and it would affect all of them, like it or not. And it had nothing to do with the tangle of sheets from the previous night, or the fact that Rei had appeared out of Minako's room in her underthings that morning.

Ami. Are you free?

[Ami may as well be part vampire for the hours she kept sometimes. She looked up and removed her glasses, going over the chemical formulas she had in her notes. She had various clippings of various poisonous plants from the public garden, though they were sealed tight in boxes and bags. She was currently trying to come up with antidotes and remedies. Nanoha's comment about tear gas had put her on edge. What if Nanoha was fool enough to do it? She couldn't risk it. She wouldn't. The Mercury Compact had already broken down the chemical composition and she was just writing down possible solutions. Though without actual access to a lab it was all pure theory.

She looked up when she heard Rei.]

Sure, Rei-chan, come on in. Just working on some formulas.

[Rei slid inside and wrinkled her nose a bit, looking a perplexed by the sight of the formulas and plant clippings. Those were awkward, and she was smart enough to recognize the plants for what they are, and at least some of the compounds listed.]

Poison? Are you making antidotes?

I just wanted to say thank you for what you did while everything was going kind of crazy. And I wanted to check in and make sure you're doing okay. ARE you doing okay?

I'm alright, honestly. We've dealt with far worse than nasty ghosts even with their abilities to create illusions.

[ it's seldom when tadashi feels nervous, but he already messed up once, he doesn't want to mess up again. he drives to the apartment complex of the sailor senshi early in the morning and waits for ami to exit. he's been rehearsing some lines in his head so he knows what to say.

and when he sees ami walking out of the building, he greets her with wave and says: ]

Need a ride?

[Ami was checking her watch, getting ready to head out when she paused and saw Tadashi. At his question, her eyes widened. She hadn't expected to see him... well, ever. She honestly thought that he wasn't going to talk to her again after that awkward evening. But was he going to act like she hadn't confessed at all? Was this his olive branch? She wasn't sure she wanted to just forget, but she didn't want to lose Tadashi as a friend, either.]

I ah, was heading into work, today, actually. Isn't that a bit out of your way?

[ it's late at night and tadashi can't sleep... he has to tell ami about what he and hiro talked about. it still hurts him, but he has to. it's just not fair for her. ]
